In 2010, the Rotary Club of Gettysburg established the Benevolent Fund, within the Adams County Community Foundation, to enable club members and other individuals to make tax-deductible contributions to provide a perpetual source of annual funds for local service projects as directed by the Gettysburg Rotary Club. The earnings of the fund will be used by the club each year to fund the club’s Scholarship Program and its Community Fund donations to local charities.

Who should give to the Benevolent Fund?

Any Friends of Rotary, that is, members, individuals, families, companies, and other organizations may give to the Benevolent Fund to establish and build a permanent, endowed fund to support the work of the Rotary Club of Gettysburg.

How can I make a gift to recognize the Rotary Club or to honor a Rotarian?

  • Write a check to ACCF/RCGB Fund
  • Donate stock, real estate, personal property, securities or any marketable asset
  • Include a gift in your Last Will & Testament
  • Talk to your investment advisor, your attorney or a representative of the Rotary Club of Gettysburg

Donors are advised to consult the Rotary Club of Gettysburg Foundation Chair, the Adams County Community Foundation staff and their own professional advisors for more detailed information about diverse options for giving.

The Adams County Community Foundation

In 1985, the Rotary Club of Gettysburg conceived of and founded the Adams County Foundation, now the Adams County Community Foundation, as a major project to provide for the needs of the community in perpetuity.

Adams County Community Foundation serves the Adams County community through a wide variety of general and focused funds. Gifts to the Foundation are tax-deductible because the Foundation is a public charity. The Foundation can establish permanent endowed funds which are invested and managed by the Foundation. Earnings from the funds will forever address a broad array of needs in the community.

The Rotary Club of Gettysburg continues to support the Adams County Community Fund, and placed its Benevolent Fund with the Adams County Community Foundation because the Foundation is permanent; it builds funds that last forever. It is also local, managed by people of Adams County and it supports Adams County causes. Finally, the Foundation is accountable for wise investment of your money and for wise grant-making.

Planned Giving
Planned gifts can be made to charities and typically provide valuable tax benefits and/or income for life. Planned giving is a way a donor can leave assets to a charity at death or a way to invest money during your life time so that you receive benefits during your lifetime and then bequeath the remaining assets to a charity after death.

What are the benefits of planned giving?

  • Increase current income for you and others
  • Reduce your taxable income
  • Avoid capital gains tax
  • Pass assets to the family at a reduced tax cost
  • Make significant donations to a charity to sustain the community or a cause to which you have been committed
