Mike Aiello, Abby Pitmen and Dara Myers from PSI Pumping Solutions, Inc. presented an detailed program on their company’s work with trying to provide all people in the world with safe drinking water, proper sanitation systems and proper wash systems. PSI works with Watermission.org, to promote and install safe and clean water systems throughout the world. According to the representatives of PSI, over two billion people worldwide lack access to safe water every day and over almost two and a half billion people do not have access to proper sanitation systems. Rotary International has stated a long-term goal to provide safe water and sanitation worldwide by 2030. Lack of clean water and safe sanitation is the cause of death of an estimated 2,300 people worldwide on a daily basis. Since its creation, Watermission.org has provided more than 3 million people with safe drinking water, sanitation and safe wash facilities. The group from PSI closed their presentation with a powerful quote that hit home with many in attendance, “Water is the world’s most basic resource, it has the power to give life and the power to take life.” Watermission.org operates in 10 countries worldwide and has over 200 staff members dedicated to providing safe water to where it is needed through both community development and disaster response.
