Invocation and Song
Jennifer Railing offered a thoughtful three- part prayer.  It reminded us of the privilege of voting.  She also included a prayer for the elected officials that they pass just laws and administer them in like manner.  There was an admonition to be faithful followers of the teaching of Jesus. Amen

Ron Bailey Heartfelt singing of “God Bless America”; on key, not to high not too low.  Well done Ron
50/50 (Draw a Card)
Game of chance
Annie Frazee won the drawing and drew the unlucky Ace of Clubs.  Sorry!  won $0.00. The pot will grow to more than $328.00 for the next drawing on November 12. It seems that we've had 17 cards drawn already, so there should be 35 remaining (the jokers were tossed). The chances are getting better for someone to win a large jackpot!

$ Brad Hoch was glad to be back after spending tine in the ICU and hospital fighting off an infection.  Also, Brad gave thanks for turning 70.  I heard him say his staff said he doesn’t look a day over 55.   Agreed.

$ Scott Wehler:   Thanks for spending time with son and daughter-in-law; doing some handyman work at their new house.

$ John Kramb: Happy wishes of Guy Fawkes day.  It helps to be a British Historian to appreciate this as Mr. Fawkes tried to blow up Parliament, but was caught before he could complete his dastardly deed.  Thanks John.

$ Deb Geesey:  Gave thanks for a successful half marathon organized by Alex Hayes for the YWCA.

Classification Talk

Pictured above are President Bill Braun with Annie Frazee, Business Liaison of Main Street Gettysburg (MSG) and Deb Adamik, President and CEO of MSG.

Alex Hayes introduced our speaker Deb Adamik and her co-worker, Annie Frazee (the entire office) of MSG.

Deb reminded us that the only constant in life is change and that MSG tries to look down the road at what the community wants and needs to do and then works with the community on the process of getting there. Main Street Gettysburg’s mission as stated is, “To preserve the town of Gettysburg’s historic assets and stimulate economic growth.”  This cooperative venture is to preserve and revitalize the downtown physically to make it more attractive to residents, businesses, investors and visitors.  This includes economic development and Historical Preservation while realizing a good economic return on the investment of dollars and time. (Just a personal note, when my wife and I were looking for a college town in which we could retire we selected Gettysburg because it had an attractive and active downtown.  That ambiance has even improved in the past years.)
One current project is revitalizing the Baltimore Street corridor which is the backbone that connects the downtown square with Steinwehr Avenue.  This will take time and considerable financing for which there will be needed local assistance along with the State and Federal Government funds and grants.  Goals include, improved sidewalks and lighting, and safety on the streets for pedestrians to mention a few.  She concluded with a reminder of a major upcoming event on Sat., December 1, when Gettysburg will be hosting “First Annual Christmas Festival” from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm,.  It will feature, Breakfast with Santa, Themed streets, Christmas Parade, Gingerbread Celebration, a variety of music and much more.  Watch the Gettysburg Times for more information.

At the conclusion of the meeting Scott Wehler reminded us that our club is helping to serve the Breakfast with Santa on December 1, 2018.

We at Rotary want to thank Deb and Annie for coming and for all they do to make Gettysburg such an inviting and pleasant place to live and work.
