Lobster Dinner

The great Lobster Dinner will be held this year on May 4 at the Gettysburg Fire Hall.  This is our club's largest fund raiser of the year.  We are starting now to plan the event.  The planning committee is looking for new faces so please join in the excitement.  The planning meetings will be held on February 7, February 28, March 14, April 18 and May 2.  The meetings will be held again this year at Gettysburg Eddies on Steinwehr Ave in Gettysburg.  We meet at 5:15 PM in their upper room.  You need not attend all of the meetings to help out.
District 7390 Million Dollar Program

District 7390’s “Million Dollar Journey” is an effort to raise at least $1 million dollars for the Rotary Foundation between November 2018 and November 2019.  John began the program by showing a video by John Anthony, Rotary Club of Mechanicsburg-North, who will serve as District Governor for the 2020-2021 Rotary year.  The video highlighted both local and international efforts and projects aimed at peace, economic development, health and education, children, water, and sanitation.  All of the local or international projects highlighted in the video were supported by Clubs within District 7390 in the last five years.  The Rotary Foundation funds ALL of Rotary’s humanitarian efforts.  The video ended with a reminder that if the heart of Rotary is service, than each of us as Rotarians are its lifeblood.

Ways to give to this initiative include becoming a Major Donor ($10,000 gift), Bequest Society (designating the Rotary Foundation in your will), Paul Harris Society or by becoming a Paul Harris Fellow.  Three year pledges will be accepted for the Major Donor category.  John also pointed out that only 1 in 7 donors of legacy gifts are recognized or known.  If you’ve made a legacy gift to the Rotary Foundation, please let them know so the gift can be recognized.  Bequest Society donors will be recognized with a crystal plaque.  All donors who make a NEW gift of at least $10,000 between November 8, 2018 and October 1, 2019 will be honored at the Foundation dinner on November 7, 2019.
For more information, questions or assistance in making a gift to the Million Dollar Journey you can contact committee co-chairs PDG Kevin Cogan at pdgkevin2016@gmail.com or 717-609-7770 or PDG John Kramb at pdgjohn2015@gmail.com or 717-398-2801.
