Fred Guinn was happy because his niece was part of Homecoming Queen for Gettysburg High School this year.
Ken Farabaugh was happy that he and Connie had a three-week visit to Europe during which they were able to visit 4 former Rotary Exchange students and Ken had the opportunity to experience the grandeur of St. Andrews Golf Course in Scotland.
Daryl Black was happy because of the scholarship program at the Museum where Adams County students will be able to learn from thanks to the Rotary Club District Grant.
Brad Lancaster was happy for the formal installation of Gettysburg College’s new president.
Alex Hayes reminded us of the Octoberfest on Oct. 12 at the Battelfield Brewworks from 2 to 6 p.m. Tickets are available from him, the Gettysburg Times office, Battlefield Brew Works and at the event.
Alex also announced that for the Wednesday meeting on Oct. 9 a representative from SCCAP will present a program on the Gleaning Project. Then on Wednesday, October 23 Andrew Dalton, director of the Adams County Historical Society, will be our guest speaker. These meetings commence at 4:30 p.m. at Battlefield Brew Works
John Kramb has been selected as this year’s recipient of the Dwight D. Eisenhower Humanitarian Award. John is a tireless volunteer in our community and has done incredible work abroad for Rotary International. John will be honored at our Oct. 21 club meeting.
The Rotary Club of Gettysburg is continuing a tradition of the Rotary Club of New Oxford, which is now an alternate meeting time for our club. (Join them 7 a.m., Tuesdays at Rosie's in New Oxford.)

Tom Dombrowsky has been a member of the Gettysburg Rotary Club since 1986. Tom currently is an adjunct professor at Gettysburg College, teaching 2 courses there. His interests are Military History and the Viet Nam War. In Larry’s introduction we were provided with comments coming from Tom’s students. These comments were quite insightful, ranging from “Once you get to know him…., “ he is abruptly honest”, “he is the man,” his class is most enjoyable,” and so on.
