There's something that all Rotary club members have in common: We take action. As community volunteers, we reach out to neighbors in need. We build, support, and organize. We save lives. We work locally and globally.

Rotary club members are men and women of all ages and professional backgrounds who use their talents, skills, and energy to improve the lives of people in communities at home and around the world.

Maybe you’ve seen a need in your own community and wondered how you could help. Maybe you want to use your professional skills to help others — or even learn new skills. Maybe you’re seeking connections with other service-minded professionals in your community or abroad.

Whatever your reason, joining Rotary can help you achieve these goals, and so much more.

Become a Member of Rotary

If you’re interested in joining the Gettysburg Rotary club, please contact us.

Individuals wishing to join must be sponsored or proposed for membership into a club. Often, a person being considered for membership is invited by a club member, or sponsor, to attend one or more club meetings to learn more about Rotary. In this case, the sponsor submits the candidate’s name to the club's membership committee.

Are there qualifications for membership?

A prospective member must be a person of good character with a good business, professional, or community reputation and also be one of the following:

  • A current or former professional, proprietor, executive, manager, or community leader
  • Committed to service with a record of personal involvement
  • A Rotary Foundation alumnus

Membership Responsibilities

Members are expected to attend weekly club meetings. They must pay annual dues to their clubs, their Rotary district, and Rotary International, and they’re expected to participate in local or international Rotary club activities or projects. Clubs encourage members to aspire to club leadership or committee roles.

Rotarians represent an assembly of professional and business people from the Gettysburg area. This variety of occupations is ensured by club rules and regulations in order to avoid dominance by any one profession.

Attendance Requirements
An attendance record of 50 percent is required to remain an active Rotarian. Any missed meeting must be made up within 14 days before or after the regular meeting. To accommodate busy schedules, there are various opportunities to make up missed meetings.
